Mr. Bootsman – Fred Catizanni

The Just Wanted to Have A is not a site just to talk about fashion for men. It highlights the brands, products and places with styles that do not let themselves be influenced by passing trends.

Mr. Bootsman – Fred Catizanni

Now, the series Mr Bootsman highlights people who are inspired in the classic story, done with excellence, and craft custom.

Fred Catizanni is one of the partners of the Razor Bros, barber shop in Belo Horizonte, which seeks to rescue the atmosphere of the English of the 1920s – 1940s. The focus is totally dedicated to the customer experience, and as an ambassador of the rituals of a gentleman, the Fred is always in the trinques.

As well as the environment of the Razor, which combines the class and elegance of the English with the receptivity of mining, he is an expert in relax the that is formal, mixing tailoring with elements of casual.

Tailoring Casual – How to be more elegant without formality and stiffness?

The masculine elegance is simple, but making the simple is the most difficult.

We men, particularly the young and working in creative areas, we often have difficulty to choose clothes when we have some special event, but that is not enough to demand a suit.

The way most obvious of decrease to the seriousness of the tailoring, is to combine it with parts stripped down. A common solution is to wear a pair of jeans, dark and put on a blazer.

The solution is good, but the details make the difference.

The top may not be simply a jacket of a suit. The halves need a certain harmony, and for that you need to decrease the contrast between the formal style of the jacket and the casual style of the jeans.

How to Determine the Formality of a Blazer?

  • The blazers that has more texture, made of fabrics such as tweed, corduroy, linen, or cottonhas a footprint more rustic that goes well with the brutality of the jeans. Also has blazers of wool different from the traditional weaves and textures are outstanding.
  • Another thing that affects the formality of structure. Notice how the blazer that Fred is not armed on the shoulders and has little stiffness.

You should use what you like, but when in doubt, to combine, choose blazers that are already pro side more casual.

Disregarding the accessories in the picture there is a combination easy to always be elegant when the occasion prompts, or simply when you are in order: Blazer, casual shirt and blue jeans dark.

Have A Tailor they Trust

The most important thing in clothing is, without a doubt, how it fits on your body. The fashion for men is simple and practical: a man can be more elegant with an inexpensive piece, but well-adjusted, what with a costume expensive that not wears well.

Fred finds many pieces in the bazaars. In former times the men wore more suits and blazers, then going back in time you will find suits with cuts and fabrics of the most varied, not only law offices or weddings.

The secret of them serve? A good relationship with a tailor.

The tailor is able to make any adjustment, provided that the points the critics are correct. In the case of blazers and jackets, these points are the shoulder and the length. Do these two types of change is possible, but they are complicated and risky.

A good tip in time to see a tailor is to take an image of what I would like to do. It is a convenient way of explaining, especially in cities where the few tailors are accustomed to delivering a certain type of clothing.

Instead of arguing about the length and width right for your pants, you can show a picture and say: “I want exactly like this“.

Textures in Men’s Fashion

In menswear you don’t need colors or prints to escape from the ordinary.

The options of male clothing are more limited, and a common advice from those who work with image, is to add a shirt emblazoned, or pants color.

Colors and prints are cool, but in my opinion mixing textures is much more interesting and sophisticated. The outfit is different with subtlety, without begging for attention.

The secret of combining different textures is the contrast. I think that we can divide the fabrics into three categories:

  • Smooth
  • Little Texture
  • A Lot Of Texture

In the photo above the plain shirt, the tie and the flower on the lapel has a bit of texture. The vest and blazer are thick, with textures of varying sizes and different shades.

How to Use Vest to Tailoring

The vest is a piece of clothing little valued. Normally it deferia stay down in a suit, but the tailoring casual, it’s more of a third layer to a suit of the same fabric.

It can be worn with suits and jackets of other colors, or even very casual with t-shirts. Is a alternative nice to get out of the sameness, in addition to a good choice to hide the tummy and disguise a shirt ill-fitting.

In the market there are various models, types and sizes, for the most varied tastes and pockets. What Fred is wearing is a vest tailoring. For wearing with jeans, I highly recommend the fabrics with a more full-bodied and rustic.

Personally, I prefer to use with pants of high waist, not to let the shirt showing between the vest and the pants. You may prefer to use more short to show some detail.

Accessories

There are many options of accessories for men. I think Fred has missed only a pair of glasses, a handkerchief pocket and a hat. He is already used to combine multiple options to showcase your style.

In the photo he wears a bow tie, a flower in his lapel, a watch, a belt and a chain wallet from the Liberty Art Brothers.

The cool thing is to start slowly, thinking in your comfort zone. Move away just a little, up to a point where you can return with safety.

You will be feeling more comfortable as they try out new ideas, and there you can choose which let you more comfortable. The worst thing is to feel insecure in the clothing you wear.

The tailoring need not be only in formal situations. You can use casually on a day-to-day, combining tailored pieces, less formal, and the clothes that we are already accustomed to using.

To make the look more interesting you don’t need lots of colors or prints… just get the repair on the textures and you can even use all of the same color.

Accessories complete with a personal touch. There are many options, but it can be a simple one.

Thank You Fred!
